He used to compete in the 85kg category, and has found it hard to adapt to the newly adopted 96kg category, as the intermediate 89kg category is not an Olympic class. "My only chance was to gain weight, that is the only way I can compete with people much taller than me. I am 1.69m, and in my first competition, the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, I weighed just over 88kg, so you can imagine how hard it is for me. I have to give my best."
