He joined the AV 03 Speyer club for the 2020/21 season, having spent the previous 19 years as a member of TB 03 Roding. "If you've been one of the best German lifters for years, then of course that attracts the attention of the top German clubs. In the past few years, a move has never been an issue for me, despite the financial appeal. But now I have to admit to myself that the years I've spent in competitive sports are significantly more than the ones I have left and that I still have to capitalise on my career - especially with a view to possible participation in the Olympics."
