Weightlifting is a family tradition. Her father was a weightlifting coach and her brothers and sisters had already started practising by the time she took it up. CAREER-THREATENING INJURY
She broke her left arm in two places while making a lift at the 2019 European Championships in Batumi, Georgia. She underwent surgery and thought her career might be over, but the postponement of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo encouraged her to make an attempt to qualify for the Games. "My career could have ended along with my dream of competing at my second Olympic Games. I cried, but then I received a lot of messages of support. I quickly regained my morale. I quickly began rehabilitation after the surgery, and from there we understood that everything was once again possible [for her to resume competing]. After the surgery, it was a race against time, I trained like a madman." (midilibre.fr, 17 May 2021, midilibre.fr, 15 Jun 2019; france3-regions.francetvinfo.fr, 11 Apr 2021)

RETIREMENT PLANS
She plans to retire from the sport after the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. "The Tokyo Olympics will be my last Games, so I want a medal. At the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, I couldn't do it. I finished eighth in the 75kg category, and I had great regrets." (midilibre.fr, 17 May 2021; lequipe.fr, 10 Apr 2021)

FROM CAMEROON TO FRANCE
She competed for Cameroon at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, VIC, Australia. In 2008 she went to a training camp in France and was spotted by French club USO Dijon, who signed her for their women's team. She began competing for France in 2014 after becoming a French citizen. "The French federation contacted my club to know if I was eligible to compete for France, and that's how it started. While visiting my brother in 2010 I discovered the Clermont Sport club where I met Bernard Garcia, the president of the club. I owe a lot to him. I arrived with nothing, no papers, and he took me under his wing. I wouldn't be where I am today without him."
