"I initially got into weightlifting through CrossFit, which includes weightlifting as part of its training. My friend from university suggested I try out these really intense classes he was doing that involved endurance training, body weight exercises, gymnastics and weightlifting, and I thought, 'Why not?' Eventually, my coach recognised that I was naturally better at the strength and weightlifting part of every session, and insisted that I try out a weightlifting competition." General
WEIGHTLIFTING STEREOTYPES
She believes the stereotype of weightlifting being a 'masculine' sport is an outdated misconception. "I think this stereotype is slowly fading, and I rarely get any surprised reactions when I tell people what I do. I obviously get the occasional, 'Oh wow, you don't look like a weightlifter'- thinking I'll take this as a compliment. But, by saying that they're assuming to be a weightlifter you have to be masculine, which is ridiculous. I've always loved doing sports, and never thought of any sport as being more appropriate for girls or boys. For me, I just always did whatever I enjoyed doing." (novamlt.com, 01 Aug 2017)

FURTHER EDUCATION
She has studied a course in foundations in coaching at the University of Malta. (Facebook profile, 11 Sep 2019)
