At age 10 she was diagnosed with spondylolisthesis, a condition where the vertebrae in the spine slip out of position. She also underwent surgery on her right wrist on two occasions, surgery on her left elbow, bilateral Achilles surgery, suffered a stress fracture to the fibula bone in her leg and was diagnosed with appendicitis and glandular fever all during her junior tennis career.
