BROTHER'S BURDEN
At a young age he would travel the world with his parents to watch his brother Guillermo, who achieved a career-high singles ranking of No.3 in the world. However, he says he felt under pressure to emulate his brother's achievements, and at around age 16 he gave up the sport for eight months as a result. At one point he considered taking his mother's family name in order to avoid an association with his brother. "People expected I would play like my brother. It was hard. There were some comments from kids who said I was a bad player. That affected me personally. I was always looking down. Whenever I went to play my brother had won that tournament when he was two years younger than I was at the time. I even considered changing my family name. I did not want to be Guillermo's brother any more, because at that age you are not mature at all. I worked on my mentality and nowadays I am very proud of my brother. And he is very happy I'm still fighting because who knows where I can get." (lacapital.com.ar, 19 Jul 2021; argentina.as.com, 27 Feb 2020)
