"My parents played a little tennis as a hobby. So when I was little, around five or six years old, I tried. I also played basketball. Every week, Wednesday and Saturday, I was at mini-tennis like many other children. It started like that. Nothing extraordinary. So I was playing basketball, but since there was no girls' team, it was complicated. I stopped. I did modern jazz too, but I didn't like it at all. And I went to tennis a little more regularly, I was one of the best in the regional league at age nine or 10. And then my parents put me in a club which had a good reputation in terms of training. It was done little by little, there was no day when the decision was taken to start [her professional career]." (gqmagazine.fr, 25 Jun 2021)

SPLIT WITH FATHER
In May 2021 she began training with Spanish coach Gabriel Urpi. She had previously been coached by her father Louis-Paul. "For two years, the objectives have not been achieved. It is inevitably difficult because we continued to work hard. It is not as if we rested on our laurels. It's hard to see that it doesn't pay off. I tried to explain to him as best I could. My father remains my father. There is always a lot of love. We lived such moments together. My parents made a lot of sacrifices. I can't thank them enough. I'm sure there will be more great tennis moments in the future." (gqmagazine.fr, 25 Jun 2021; womenstennisblog.com, 05 May 2021)

HOME TOURNAMENT
She is a shareholder of the WTA Lyon Open tournament, and has participated in its organisation. Garcia also competed in the first edition of the event, which took place in March 2020. "I have always had the objective of developing a tournament. I didn't think it would be this early in my career. Doing it in Lyon was very important. The region has given me a lot, I really wanted to give back to others and share this passion for tennis with them. I'm very lucky to have the chance to play at home. It's very rare. I really tried to embrace it and take everything in. They [the fans] really helped me. It's an honour to play in France, and even more so in my own tournament."
