HISTORIC ACHIEVEMENT
In June 2016 he became the second French male player to become the world number one in the ATP doubles ranking, after Yannick Noah in 1986. (yahoo.com, 04 Jun 2016)

HEALTHY PARTNERSHIP
He says his relationship with doubles partner Pierre-Hugues Herbert is similar to that between two brothers. "Given our age difference, one can even speak of a big brother-younger brother type relationship. But that does not mean that there is a hierarchy between us. The relationship is balanced. In the beginning, everything was new for him, so with my experience I advised him a bit more. Today, we can say anything to each other. However, like me, Pierre-Hugues is very self-critical, so there is rarely a need to say much. On the contrary, it's better to help and encourage one another." (metronews.fr, 26 May 2016)

LONGEST-EVER MATCH
At Wimbledon in 2010 he competed in the longest-ever professional tennis match recorded at the time, when he took on US player John Isner in their first round singles match. The match lasted 11 hours and five minutes in total and was played over the course of three days, with Isner prevailing 70-68 in a final set which lasted eight hours and 11 minutes. To commemorate the match, a blue plaque was installed on the outside wall of Court 18, where the match took place. He wrote the book 'Le Match de Ma Vie' [The Match of My Life] about the epic battle. "Even if I lost the match, I learned a lot about myself as a player and person. Afterwards I said, 'I can play everywhere in every condition', and this means a lot to a tennis player."
