COMPETING ON THE ATP TOUR
After turning professional at age 22, he reached the top 50 in the world rankings for the first time in singles in May 2021 and the following month he spoke about finally feeling like he belongs on the ATP Tour. "I've been around now for maybe like two years on the ATP Tour [speaking in June 2021], played the bigger tournaments for the second time now, and I'm starting to feel like I belong here. [I'm] starting to believe in myself, and obviously results come if you keep believing and keep pushing." (atptour.com, 28 Jun 2021, 04 Jun 2021; skysports.com, 06 Jun 2021)

UNIVERSITY CAREER
He attended Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, United States of America, on a tennis scholarship between 2012 and 2016. "I was 18 and had just graduated from high school. Going to college was the most obvious decision I could have made because I just wasn't good enough at junior level. Back then I didn't necessarily focus on tennis and did a lot of things on the side. I was also lucky enough to be able to travel with a trainer right from the start. Happiness is part of it. I played well at the right time, stayed injury-free and whenever there was a step up I kept investing in my career. So I didn't put the money aside, but instead put it in a trainer or a physiotherapist." (archysport.com, 27 May 2021)
