TRANSVERSE MYELITIS
In 2015, at age 15, he was diagnosed with transverse myelitis, a neurological condition caused by an inflammation of the spinal cord. The condition limited his ability to walk for a period, but he had fully recovered from its effects a year and a half after the diagnosis. He won a world junior championship title in November 2016. "When I woke up one morning, my leg was hot, I couldn't feel it. When we decided to go to the doctor, I couldn't walk anymore. I was hospitalised. They initially gave me a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, but then they found that I had transverse myelitis. I couldn't train at that time. I tried to hold on to taekwondo, because it was the best thing I could do. I thought about it all the time. It was a great motivation for me to overcome the disease. I did not despair, I would not have survived the disease if I had. My illness lasted for two or three months, but I recovered from its effects in one and a half years. My reflexes were gone, and even when I went to the world junior championships I was not at full strength. But at the end of 2016, I became world junior champion." ?(aa.com.tr, 24 Apr 2021, 06 Nov 2018, 05 Dec 2016)
