:
He switched from karate to taekwondo when he moved from Bouake to Abidjan in Cote d'Ivoire. "I took up taekwondo thanks to my father, who worked in a school where they had a taekwondo programme. I started with it just to have fun after school. This period of my life ignited in me a burning desire to succeed, and made me realise that taekwondo was going to be my way to achieve something special." MOTIVATION
He says he is motivated by the influence that he has had on children in his home country of Cote d'Ivoire. "Thanks to me there are now children dreaming of becoming champions, and this is very nice. These young people are now my main motivation. I am an Olympic champion and I've won several medals, so I don't have anything more to prove. My motivation today is the youth. Becoming an Olympic champion has given me the opportunity to make a change and to create impact for my community, for my country and for the continent of Africa. It is today my duty to give back to the young generation and to empower more kids to learn the life lessons that the sport of taekwondo has to offer."
