RETIREMENT THOUGHTS
She says she has not yet decided if she will retire from the sport after the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. "In 2016, in Rio de Janeiro, I thought they were the last [Olympic Games], but they were not. Now it will be one more. I don't know, let's see." She plans to continue working in table tennis after she stops competing. "Table tennis is a profession and the best of them." (observador.pt, 26 Jan 2020)

FROM THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA TO PORTUGAL
Born and raised in the People's Republic of China, she moved to Spain in 1998 to play table tennis professionally. In 2001 she relocated to Portugal, where she eventually settled and obtained Portuguese citizenship in August 2013. "I've been here for almost 20 years [speaking in January 2020]. I like everything, the people, the climate, the food, and I like Madeira. My husband is from Madeira, my daughter was born here. It is like my second home, my second country."
