"I remember that my brother was not allowed by his classmates to play table tennis in the school yard so he asked Santa [Father Christmas] to bring us two rackets. As soon as we received them, we started to play on my father's desk all day long. Initially it was funny for my parents but after a while it got a little bit annoying. MOVE TO GERMANY
He moved to Germany at age 16 in 2005 in order to advance his table tennis career. His move breached the Romanian Table Tennis Federation's [FRTM] internal rules, preventing players under 18 years of age from representing Romania in age-group competitions if they are based abroad. He was suspended by the FRTM for three years between the ages of 16 and 19. "When I first moved to Germany in my youth I knew I was going to do everything in power to become a professional table tennis player."
