The Netherlands made the final of the 4x100m mixed medley relay at the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju, Republic of Korea, with the seventh-fastest time in the heats. However, they were disqualified in the final due to a 15-metre violation in the backstroke leg.

The Dutch team have won two silver medals at the European championships, finishing behind Great Britain in both 2014 and at the 2020 edition of the tournament, which took place in 2021. They placed fourth at the 2018 European Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, despite recording the fastest qualifying time in the heats.
