Italy placed sixth in the 4x100m mixed medley relay at the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju, Republic of Korea, matching their result from the 2015 edition of the championships. At the 2017 World Championships in Budapest, they again competed in the final and finished eighth.

The Italians won bronze at the 2020 European Championships, which took place in May 2021, as well as the 2018 edition of the tournament in Glasgow, Scotland. The Italian team claimed silver at the 2016 European Championships in London, finishing more than a second behind champions Great Britain.
