The Korean men's 4x200m relay team are making their third Olympic appearance at the 2020 Games in Tokyo, and their first since 1996. They are yet to make an Olympic final in the event, having recorded the 12th-fastest time in the heats at Seoul 1988 and the 14th-best time eight years later in Atlanta.
The Republic of Korea competed at the world championships for the first time in six years in 2019 in Gwangju. They set a national record of 7:15.05 in the heats but that was only enough to be the 18th-fastest time and they did not qualify for the final.
The Koreans are six-time medallists [five bronze, one silver] in the event at the Asian Games, with their most recent podium finish coming in 2010. They placed fourth in 2018 in Indonesia.
