The 2020 Games in Tokyo are Greece's third Olympic appearance in the men's 4x100m freestyle relay. They first competed in the event as hosts of the 2004 Games in Athens, where they were ranked 14th out of 16 teams in the heats. They made an improved showing on their second appearance in 2016 in Rio, but still missed the final after recording the 10th-fastest time in the heats.

Greece have competed at the past three editions of the world championships, with a 10th-place finish in 2019 their best result at the tournament.
