She learned to swim while travelling around Australia on a camping trip with her family for two years. "While I loved everything about it, I mostly loved the water. We swam at rock pools and rivers, beneath waterfalls and in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. I laughed and played and splashed with my brothers Oliver and Dominic and I think I was as happy as it is possible to be." (thegreynomads.com.au, 01 Jan 2019)

When her family returned from their camping trip to Coffs Harbour, NSW, Australia, she began swimming lessons. "I immediately signed up for proper swimming lessons, and then swimming squads, and I knew I was where I belonged. We moved to the Gold Coast when I was 15 so I could follow my swimming dream." TUMBLING RECORDS AHEAD OF TOKYO
In August 2020 she broke into the top 10 all-time short course times for the 1500m event when she set a new Australian record and the eighth fastest time in history [at the time] of 15:38.01. That result took five seconds off the previous Australian short course record and 10 seconds off her own previous personal best. "[The race in August] was a really good indicator of where I'm at, but I learned a lot of things about how I can swim it better next time." The following month she bettered her time with a new Australian record of 15:31.19 to set the fifth fastest time in history at the time. "The dream is still the Olympics, that would be amazing, so everything is working towards that." (swimmingworldmagazine.com, 26 Sep 2020; swimswam.com, 26 Sep 2020; sport.bond.edu.au, 06 Sep 2020)

UNIVERSITY DECISION
In 2017 she committed to join the University of Wisconsin in the United States of America for the 2018/19 season, but chose to remain in Australia to train with her club in preparation for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. She has studied for a degree in biomedical science at Bond University in Gold Coast, QLD, Australia on a swimming scholarship.
