LEDECKY RIVALRY
She says she has a friendly rivalry with US swimmer Katie Ledecky and enjoys competing against her. Titmus' victory in the 400m freestyle at the 2019 World Championships in Gwangju, Republic of Korea, was the first time Ledecky had been beaten in the event at a major meet since 2013. "Come next year [2020 Olympic Games], if she is at her best I cannot beat her, even with my best. Where I am now, I am not good enough to beat her best. But it will be a clean slate, it's going to be a tough battle and it's going to be exciting. I never go up against Katie scared, I'm always more concerned with what I know I can do and I know I can be good enough to beat her. We chat, she's just a normal person. She's lovely actually. We get along, like most competitors do." (theadvocate.com.au, 30 Oct 2019)

RELOCATION
In 2015 her family relocated from Launceston, TAS, to Brisbane, QLD, Australia, to provide her with better training opportunities. She was initially coached by Peter Gartrell following her move, before working with Dean Boxall. "I'm lucky to have parents that would do anything for me. A lot of other parents wouldn't pack up their whole lives and leave their jobs to move to Brisbane, but they wanted to do whatever they could to help me achieve my dreams." (olympic.org, 21 Aug 2019; couriermail.com.au, 31 Mar 2018)
