She followed her parents into the sport as they were both competitive swimmers. "My mum and dad wanted me to enter other sports at first [athletics, tennis, horse riding] but I didn't stay in any of them. Karate was never my first sport, I only trained it to develop other things. I felt it in swimming, and continuing it was inevitable. My parents' successes, their medals, watching them, were certainly to blame for me gaining a love of swimming." (maribor24.si, 08 Dec 2019)
