After swimming for two seasons for the East Carolina University in the United States of America, in the 2020/21 season he began competing for the University of Tennessee. "Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, many universities [in the United States] were cutting budgets and the East Carolina University was stopping the [swimming] programme, so I had to transfer."
