Her father Chris competed in open water swimming in Hawaii, United States of America, and won the Waikiki Roughwater Swim three times from 1985 to 1990. He also competed in swimming at university at NCAA Division I level and is a former lifeguard in Hawaii. Her younger sister Cayla is also a professional surfer.
