He believes skateboarding's inclusion on the Olympic programme is part of a natural evolution for the sport. "I think it is already losing its essence somehow, but it is evolution. The essence of skateboarding exists, but today it is already quite commercial. I am always amused by people who say 'I am not going to the Olympics because I am pure' but they tell you this with Nike shoes on their feet. But I think it is evolution, everything is evolving. In the past we wrote letters and now we use WhatsApp. What I mean is, the essence still exists but it evolves, so I think we have to adapt to this evolution and try to teach children the spirit of skateboarding, and each one learns the way they want. But all in all, the Olympic Games will be very positive for the sport. People begin to be aware that it is indeed a sport, whereas before, especially for older people, it was associated with rap, graffiti, street drinking and delinquency."
