He became interested in skateboarding through his father's group of friends. "The little crew of friends that my dad had around was really deep into the skating scene of Brazil back in the 1980s and they went to Florianopolis, because it had beaches and was a nice place to live. That's where I grew up skating." (soloskatemag.com, 02 Jun 2017; globoesporte.globo.com, 13 Sep 2019)

General
OLYMPIC INCLUSION
He believes that skateboarding's inclusion at the Olympic Games can help raise the profile of the sport. "In some respects the Olympics has little in common with skateboarding. But it is also a massive platform through which we can promote our message. If I had the chance to compete at the Games and I could inspire, then I think that would be awesome. I don't think I would need an Olympic medal for Brazil to be proud of me. If I did win a medal, I would cherish it not for me or my image, but to help Brazilian skateboarding. The important thing is that we got skateboarding to the Games. Frankly, the medal wouldn't make a difference to me." (globoesporte.globo.com, 13 Sep 2019; folha.uol.com.br, 12 Sep 2019)

ESTABLISHED IN AUSTRALIA
He realised that he wanted to pursue a career in skateboarding after travelling to Australia with his father at age six. "My dad wanted to take me and go to Australia. He wanted me to learn English and show me a different place. There were so many skate parks, so many people skating, and so many kids. That right there was the motivation for me. Maybe if I was taken to a place where there wasn't skating, I would have become a soccer player or something. When I got back to Brazil, the scene was already bigger." (soloskatemag.com, 02 Jun 2017)

VERSATILITY
He believes skateboarding has no genres. "Skateboarding for me has never been divided in street, bowl, vert. It has just been skateboarding. I always like to skate street one day, skate bowl another day, skate a mini-ramp, skate a downhill or whatever. You have so much things that you can have fun with in skating. It's infinite. Sometimes I go out and I just carve around with some grinds. I just want to skate." (soloskatemag.com, 02 Jun 2017)

BUSINESS OWNER
In 2014 he founded a brewing company called LayBack Beer in Brazil. He has also opened a cafe. (Instagram profile, 29 Aug 2019; revistabeerart.com, 11 Nov 2014; globoesporte.globo.com, 13 Sep 2019)

SANCTION
In February 2019 he received a six-month suspension from the Brazilian Anti-Doping Sports Court [TJDAD] after a sample he provided at the Vert Jam event in Itajai, Brazil, in January 2018 tested positive for a derivative of marijuana. The suspension was backdated from January 2018. (globoesporte.globo.com, 13 Sep 2019, 27 Apr 2018; olharolimpico.blogosfera.uol.com.br, 26 Feb 2019)
