In 2003 her friends showed her a skateboard. She gave it a try and managed to perform an ollie. Later her grandmother gave her a skateboard of her own, and she began riding in the streets near her house everyday. "At the beginning, my dad wasn't so sure because he felt the scene was too masculine but I was determined to keep on skating, so he ended up accepting my decision. Same thing happened at the skateparks, in the competitions and with the public. At the beginning, everybody thought it was strange to see a girl among boys, but they got used to it. Skateboarding has been part of my life for many years, and it is difficult to describe what it represents. It is a passion that I cannot imagine ever stopping. FROM BRAZIL TO THE UNITED STATES
In 2007, at age 14, she was invited to her first international competition, the X Games in Los Angeles, CA, United States of America. After the tournament she decided that she wanted to build her career in the US and decided to stay in California permanently. She became a US citizen in April 2021. ATHLETE REPRESENTATIVE
In 2018 she was named Athletes' Representative on the World Skate Executive Board. "Women's skateboarding has grown and changed a lot in recent years. It's bizarre how much it has grown. The Brazilian women's skateboarding is really strong in performance, but we need a little more support. I can't complain, I have excellent partners and sponsors who help me, so I'm one of the lucky ones. Speaking more for the others, I see many girls who are really good at skateboarding and have no support, while there are few events. Visibility is what is lacking because the girls are really good - there is no lack of quality. I was not the first woman on the Brazilian skateboard to appear. There were several before me but, until I retire, I want girls to look at me and see that it is possible to follow their dreams and realise each one of them." BACKYARD PARK
She has a mini skatepark in her backyard in Los Angeles, CA, which includes a box, Euro-gap, handrail, hubbas, quarter pipes and more. "I got my skate park renewed about a year ago [in 2020], and I added some stuff that wasn't here because I want a skate park that I can train for a competition. This handrail, it's perfect for learning handrail tricks. This stair is super small and fun. The Hubba too. It's like what they have in competition, but a little bit smaller. I designed the whole thing. The A-Frame, it's my favourite thing to skate. It's a small one so you can learn tricks, skate for hours. When I'm not traveling, I just come to the backyard and skate."
