They began skateboarding at age eight in Arizona, United States of America. They were given their first skateboard after a year of begging their parents for one, and started competing at age nine. (Athlete, 21 Jul 2021; X Games YouTube channel, 22 Jul 2014)

"I used to dirt bike when I was younger, so that kind of got me into watching X Games. My dad and I were watching it one day and I saw women's vert skateboarding and I thought it was so awesome that girls could skate. I had a couple friends that skated. So, immediately after seeing that, I knew that I was going to love it as soon as I got a board." (sikids.com, 03 Jun 2016)

General
SKATEBOARDING COMMUNITY
They are non-binary and use the pronouns 'they/them'. They say skateboarding has made them feel a part of something. "Skateboarding gives you the space to be able to be yourself and grow as a human and be supported throughout the entire way. I don't want to be known as a good female skateboarder. I just want to be known as a good skater, someone that made a difference. Gender shouldn't matter." (usaskateboarding.com, 15 Nov 2021; forbes.com, 21 Jun 2021; outsports.com, 08 Jul 2021)

HOMESCHOOLED
From second grade they were homeschooled so that they could spend more time focusing on skateboarding. "It's definitely hard being young and trying to focus on something that you really love to train a lot. Especially with school. I've gone back and forth from being in a school and homeschooling. Right now [speaking in 2016], I'm homeschooling and it's a lot better, but it's just crazy." (espn.com, 01 Aug 2013; sikids.com, 03 Jun 2016)
