His older brother Eiju Hirano has competed in snowboard at international level, including at the 2010 and 2011 junior world championships. His younger brother Kaishu Hirano is a professional snowboarder who won silver in halfpipe at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland. He was influenced by his older brother. Their father Hidenori aspired to become a professional surfer and has run a skate park in Murakami, Niigata Prefecture. "Ever since I was little, my father built an environment for me to get involved in both snowboard and skateboard, so they have always been very interlinked for me.
