"In sport I have finally found peace. On the range, there is just me, my thoughts, my hopes and my target. In Tokyo this will be no different, and I am ready to make my mark, not just for myself, but also for my one-year-old baby boy." (sportstar.thehindu.com, 10 Jun 2021)

FROM ERITREA TO SWITZERLAND
She arrived in Switzerland in 2015 having fled Eritrea, where she was born. "I left my country because there was no freedom there. We [women] don't have the right to work, to make money. That's why I left my country. It was very, very hard. We went through Sudan for two weeks. We walked all the way, then we took a bus to a big city in Sudan called Khartoum. I stayed there for about five to six months. Then we crossed Libya through the desert and then the sea. From Italy, we started the big journey to Switzerland. When I arrived in Switzerland I cried all the time. I couldn't stop crying. I couldn't eat or drink. One person saw that I was always sad. He asked me three times, 'Luna, why are you crying? Why are you always sad? We are here, you have to be brave'." (Olympics YouTube channel, 08 Aug 2020; reuters.com, 27 May 2021; olympics.com, 06 Jun 2021)
