RIO DISAPPOINTMENT
Despite earning a quota spot for Italy in individual women's trap ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the national team decided to send Jessica Rossi instead. Having won gold at the 2012 Games in London, Rossi went on to finish sixth in Rio de Janeiro. "I was a little upset having missed Rio. But it was a logical decision by the team because Jessica was reigning Olympic champion. We have a great relationship. She has much more experience than me and if I have any doubts I always ask her for advice. We have known each other for almost 10 years. But now I really hope I'll be selected to compete in Tokyo and earn a good result. Before Rio I was learning Portuguese, now I'm learning Japanese." (oasport.it, 20 Apr 2020; repubblica.it, 30 May 2019)

DUAL NATIONALITY
She was born in Switzerland but is eligible to compete for Italy through her father. "I was born in Zurich, but my father is Italian and I have an Italian passport. That's why I compete for Italy, but I grew up with the Swiss team. We have known each other since the beginning when I was watching my father at the range." (oasport.it, 06 Sep 2018; issf-sports.org, 10 Jun 2013)
