Her husband Anatoly Babushkin served as pistol coach for the Australian shooting team at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games. She wanted to become a detective as a child and thought it would be good to learn how to shoot. She was introduced to the sport when her school friend took her to a community class. "One day, a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to go to try out shooting. I agreed because at this age I was already too old for gymnastics or ice skating.
