CONTROLLING HER NERVES
She is able to lower her heart rate by 10 to 20 beats per minute before taking a shot by repeating the words 'pust' and 'etterhold' [Norwegian for breath and restraint]. Following an experiment in 2020, a neuropsychologist suggested the ritual activates her brain's frontal lobes and allows her to control her nerves. "It is not easy to make it happen every time. It can be difficult in finals, because you can almost blackout. I just have to practise it as much as possible. I guess I just have to make sure I get to as many finals as possible."
