DELAYED BAN
In February 2021 the National Rifle Association of India [NRAI] announced that she was one of 22 Indian shooters who would be banned from competing at the national championships after they took part in an unauthorised online shooting league. While most of the shooters were not allowed to take part in the 2021 edition of the Indian championships, Deswal's ban was delayed until 2022 as the association acknowledged she would need to prepare for the rescheduled 2020 Olympic Games. SIGNIFICANT VICTORY
She beat her idol, Ukrainian shooter Olena Kostevych, to win the 10m air pistol competition at the 2019 World Cup event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. "When I started shooting, I would watch her videos and she remains my idol. To win the gold medal and defeat her in the final is a moment to remember and when we congratulated each other, I was trying to control my emotions. Even though I led throughout the final, I knew that a shooter like her can always come back.
