He played football as a boy but a growth spurt caused a problem in one of his knees that prevented him from running for seven months. His mother then contacted an acquaintance who was involved in shooting. He first tried rifle before taking up pistol. "My mother understood very quickly that the rifle was not my thing. Then I tried the pistol and once I had it in my hand, I was hooked. I found rifle too easy. And after just three shots with the pistol I was already smiling." (midilibre.fr, 17 Feb 2020)
