Her grandfather Shigetaka Ishihara and her father Keishi Ishihara competed in sport shooting at international level. Shigetaka won the trap event at the 1954 All Japan Championships, and has served as vice president of the Japan Clay Target Shooting Association. Keishi was selected for the Japanese national team at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, but did not compete.
