She used to practise gymnastics from age three to 16. After sustaining an injury she switched to shooting. "I always had the dream of going to the Olympics as a gymnast, but a spinal injury left me out of the London 2012 Olympic Games qualifier and out of my sport. That is when my doctor recommended shooting because it had less impact on my spine. Also a friend of my brother's, who practises shooting, invited me to try the sport and that's how I started." "'Happiness is the journey, not the destination'. I like this phrase because it represents me in the sense that for a long time I struggled to achieve my goal [in gymnastics] and I thought I would be happy to achieve it and then life put a stop to it with my spinal injury. Over time, and after I obtained my Olympic quota in another sport, I realised that life takes you in totally unknown directions and you just have to trust, live, and enjoy the present."
