She broke several bones in her foot at the 2015 World Cup event in Weymouth, England, after she got stuck in her boat's foot strap on the first day of the event. She had to withdraw from the competition and return to Australia for treatment. She returned to competition at the 2015 49erFX World Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She suffered a serious head injury at the 2012 Australian Youth Championships when her 29er skiff collided with a windsurfer, causing her to strike her head and fall into the water. She was taken to hospital in critical condition with a fractured skull, and she required surgery to relieve swelling on the brain and fluid in her lungs. She spent several weeks in an induced coma and had to learn how to walk and talk again, but managed to return to the water three months later.
