She and her cousin Jason Waterhouse have competed in sailing as crewmates, most notably winning silver in the Nacra 17 class at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Her uncle Rod and her aunt Kerry have sailed internationally representing Australia, and competed at the 2014 Hobie World Championships in Jervis Bay, NSW, Australia. She began sailing at age nine with her brother Evan in Manly, NSW, Australia. The pair's first sailing experience was traumatic. "It was a 20-knot wind, we launched off the boat ramp and capsized in front of the ferry terminal. The ferry was coming towards us, and we had to get towed out.
