In 2014 she injured ligaments in her right foot after it became caught in ropes. She had to wear a special boot for three weeks as a result. (baadmagasinet.dk, 20 Nov 2014)

She grew up sailing in the summer holidays on her parents' boat. At age eight her father took her to a sailing camp in Tuno, Denmark. She began sailing in the Optimist class in 2000 and switched to the 29er in 2006. (sejlsport.dk, 14 Apr 2015; idaogmarie.dk, 11 Apr 2015)
