She is related to Viktor Cholnoky and Gabor Cholnoky, who were Hungarian writers in the 19th century. Her grandfather Peter was also a writer. The medical faculty at the University of Pecs in Hungary has been named after her great-grandfather Laszlo Cholnoky who was a chemist and a pharmacist.
