She slipped and fell while carrying her windsurfing board two days before the 2021 Mussanah Open Championship in Oman, which also served as the Asia and Africa Olympic qualifier event. She twisted her knee in the fall and medical staff suspected she might have torn her medial collateral ligament [MCL], but she still managed to compete and qualified for the 2020 Olympic Games. (channelnewsasia.com, 09 Apr 2021; straitstimes.com, 09 Apr 2021)

She has suffered shoulder dislocations and slipped discs in her back during her career. (asiangames.sailing.org.sg, 01 Jan 2018)

She began sailing at age seven at the National Sailing Centre in Singapore. (asiangames.sailing.org.sg, 01 Jan 2018)

Her father enrolled her in sailing lessons. "I initially really disliked being alone out at sea and would cry every time my dad sent me for training. Thus, I quit sailing after a few months. Fast forward to when I was 11, I wasn't as small and the sea and winds did not intimidate me as much. I started sailing again and I enjoyed it." "Go hard or go home. I believe that if you want to achieve something, you have to commit your all to it. Going into something half-hearted isn't going to make your time and effort worthwhile." (asiangames.sailing.org.sg, 01 Jan 2018)

In 2016 she was presented with the Outstanding Achievement Award by Singapore Management University [SMU] Sailing. (SMU Sailing Facebook page, 23 Mar 2016)

General
SAILING CLASSES
She has competed in both the 470 dinghy class and the RS:X windsurfing class. "In windsurfing you use your legs to steer and that really trains your feel of the boat. Sailing is more tactical and you have to use the wind to help you get back and I enjoy the challenge." (todayonline.com, 19 Apr 2016)

SPONSORSHIP
In 2018 she became the first recipient of the Deloitte Singapore Scholarship, which also included the offer of a full-time job as an audit and assurance associate upon the completion of her studies in December 2018. "The Deloitte Scholarship is just the start and I have to put in a lot of effort into my sports and studies. That being said, knowing I'll have a job waiting for me upon graduation allows me to focus on the job at hand." (straitstimes.com, 03 Jan 2018)
