She began sailing at age 10 at primary school in Singapore. (asiangames.sailing.org.sg, 01 Oct 2017)
:
"It was my sister Samantha who influenced me to give it a shot. This may surprise you but I was initially afraid of sailing and preferred to stay on the beach while others took to the boats. I was in both sailing and ballet at that time and was about to choose the latter. It was Samantha bringing me out on the Optimist together and the push from my parents that drew me to sailing. From there, the passion grew and the rest is history." (asiangames.sailing.org.sg, 01 Oct 2017; lifestyle.www.ns.sg, 09 Jun 2012)

CREWMATE
She and Cecilia Low began sailing together in the 49erFX class in December 2014, with the intention of qualifying for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. They secured a quota spot for Singapore ahead of the Games at the 2019 Class World Championships in Auckland, New Zealand. "We will prepare as much as we can to have the best performance for the Games. We have a lot of racing to do to get sharper on our tactics. It will be our first Olympic Games and it'd be great if we make it to the top 10 out of 21 boats on our first Games." (Facebook team page, 13 Jul 2020; SportsDeskOnline, 12 Feb 2020; straitstimes.com, 08 Dec 2019)

STUDY BREAK
She has taken a break from her accountancy studies at the Singapore Management University to focus on preparing for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. "If we really want to do it [2020 Olympics], we should do it properly. It'll be very sad at the end of the day if I struggle to do both, and I end up not doing well in my studies and not getting what I want in sailing. I would have wasted these few years when I could have done one really well by really prioritising." (Straits Times, 13 Jun 2018; snapshots.smu.edu.sg, 11 Aug 2017)
