General Interest

General
OLYMPIC VETERAN
In 2017 he announced he was retiring from a competitive sailing, but two years later he returned to the sport. His aim was to qualify for his seventh Olympic Games, which would be a Brazilian record. "I started sailing, practically, in the middle of the [Olympic] cycle. But, with the postponement, I gained another year. I'm excited. I do what I like. I love to compete, to have a goal. I am happy to represent Brazil and try to be competitive." (agenciabrasil.ebc.com.br, 09 Aug 2020)

CLASSES SAILED
He has sailed in the Laser class for the majority of his career. He represented Brazil in the Star class at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games, but he returned to Laser in 2013. In 2017 he competed in the 49er class. "I love Laser and also Star. Each one of them has its own charm. I don't have any preference, and don't think there is a better class than another, just the one to which a sailor adapts better." (agenciabrasil.ebc.com.br, 09 Aug 2020; ISAF, 01 Feb 2020; otempo.com.br, 05 Jul 2020)
