His parents raced motorbikes before taking up sailing. "I didn't even know how to swim [when he first went sailing]. [Spanish professional motorbike rider] Sito Pons taught me during a summer holiday. My parents didn't want me to compete. They came from the world of motorbikes and knew competitive sport is a cruel, very aggressive world but they did not succeed. Little by little I was competing in Optimist. I went to my first championship in Spain when I was 10 years old." (abc.es, 10 Mar 2020)

General Interest

General
HUMANITARIAN HELP
In September 2018 he was on a surfing holiday in Bali, Indonesia, when an earthquake hit the country. The quake mainly affected the island of Sulawesi so he decided to get a flight to the city of Palu, where he spent four days working as a volunteer. "They needed urgent humanitarian help. There were kids who had lost their parents on the street. I could not keep on surfing when there was this situation just a two-hour flight away. I built pipes, set up tents, registered new refugees getting into the camp. We were not on the front lines, but what we were doing allowed others to carry out the main rescue tasks. It was the most brutal experience of my life but I would do it again." (elmundo.es, 02 Aug 2019; ccma.cat, 17 Oct 2018)

CREWMATE
He parted ways with his former crewmate Joan Herp after the pair placed 12th in the 470 class at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. He then approached Nicolas Rodriguez, who had been just about to accept a job in dentistry in the Netherlands, about forming a new partnership. "If I had waited one more day, he might not have had the chance to reject the offer, and maybe today we would not be sailing together." (elmundo.es, 02 Aug 2019)

TRAINING IN JAPAN
In 2019 he and Nicolas Rodriguez were invited to train alongside the Japanese sailing team at a former military base on the island of Zamami in Japan. "It was an ideal place. Total solitude. We trained, surrounded by whales, in the sea and later we did physical workouts and then we slept. That was the routine: sailing, fitness, rest, sailing, fitness, rest. Just what we needed." (elmundo.es, 02 Aug 2019)

OTHER ACTIVITIES
He was skipper of the Spanish Impulse team that competed in the 2017 Youth America's Cup. He has also taken part in the F50 catamaran international series SailGP from its first edition in 2019. (abc.es, 10 Mar 2020; expansion.com, 16 Mar 2018; masmar.net, 02 Feb 2017)
