CREWMATE
After competing in the 29er class at youth world championship level until 2012, he moved into kiteboard racing for several years. He began sailing the Nacra 17 class in 2019, joining up with Tara Pacheco after her former teammate retired. Despite having sailed together for less than a year, the pair secured an Olympic quota spot for Spain ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo by finishing fifth at the 2019 World Championships in Auckland, New Zealand. "Normally, teams have four years to prepare for an Olympic Games. We had just one-and-a-half and a complicated qualification. The postponement of the Games [due to COVID-19] will allow us to make the difference in Tokyo. We had a very steep learning curve and this delay is more favourable to us than for other teams." (Revista Regata, 01 Mar 2020; nacra17.org, 08 Dec 2019; lavanguardia.com, 08 Dec 2019; lavozdegalicia.es, 13 Feb 2019)

BACKGROUND
He was born in Germany, but has Spanish citizenship as he has lived there since he was age three. "I decided to represent Spain as I have always lived here and starting for Germany wouldn't have meant any advantage to me." (atlanticacomunicacion.com, 22 Jun 2016; internationalkiteboarding.org, 15 Jan 2014)

BUSINESS OWNER
He is a co-founder of Flying Sardine, a brand of sailing boards. The company aims to become an official provider for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. (Revista Regata, 01 Mar 2020; Instagram profile, 02 Feb 2020; flyingsardine.com, 15 Jan 2020)
