General Interest

General
CREWMATE
He competes in the 49er class with Diego Botin. They began sailing together in January 2015. "By the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, we will have been together for more than five years. The more time passes, the better we understand each other and the better we work in the same direction and as a team," Diego said. (eldiariomontanes.es, 10 Dec 2019; marca.com, 28 May 2016; lavozdegalicia.es, 15 Jan 2015)

RUSHED IN RIO
He described his preparations for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro as rushed, given he and crewmate Diego Botin had only started sailing together a year earlier. "When we went to Rio we were a new crew which had hardly competed together and now we are working differently with a different coach and trying to be more consistent. For Rio it was a sprint in which we had to do everything in a very short time. Now, we are much better prepared." (farodevigo.es, 07 Sep 2019)

CLEANER SEAS
He is committed reducing waste in the oceans, especially after being directly impacted by ocean pollution during a competition in 2014. He has subsequently organised cleaning sessions with Brazilian sailor Kahena Kunze. "In 2014 we were sailing in Rio de Janeiro and our boat was damaged due to the amount of plastics in the water. That made me think, I want to take care of the sea and use every opportunity to take action. If I am in the middle of a training session and I see some plastic floating, I will pick it up. My coach gets angry, but I do not think I am not focusing on the training, it is just that I am worried about water pollution." (20minutos.es, 27 Sep 2019)
