She began sailing at age seven. (49er.org, 2021)

"My family has always been into sailing, especially my grandparents who would always bring me out on sailing trips. Then when I was turning nine, I got an Optimist [dinghy] for my birthday and that's when it all started. I've always loved being in and on the water, and I think that's why sailing got so interesting and fun for me. The feeling of handling different conditions and making the boat go is the best." FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES
She says she is uncertain if she and crewmate Helene Naess will be able to continue after the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, with past difficulty in finding funding. "Money is not the motivation, but so far this has been a losing project. We are lucky to have had kind parents who have contributed, because we have not made money. If we are to continue, then we must make it work financially. We hope that a good result at the Olympic Games contributes to us being able to sail at the following Games in Paris. We sail full-time, but it has not been easy to get the investment financed. There have been many tough years, including extra studies and student loans, work in a local grocery store. Now it happens with the help of sponsors, so we hope they continue. This is an expensive sport." (aftenposten.no, 15 Jul 2021)

PARTNERSHIP
She first teamed up with partner Helene Naess in early 2013. "We try to have very specified roles in the boat. Helene drives the boat and makes tactical and strategic decisions. I trim the sails to make the boat go as fast as possible. We like to think of ourselves as all-round sailors, meaning we do well in all types of conditions. However, we always perform and often win races when the wind is light." (helenemariesailing.com, 15 Feb 2021)
