General Interest

General
CREWMATE
He met his Nacra 17 crewmate Anna Weis through a mutual friend during high school. At that time Weis was a solo sailor, but in 2018 he asked her if she would like to team up and sail the Nacra 17 class with him. He encouraged Weis to put her studies at Boston University on hold while they trained for the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru. After winning a gold medal at in Lima, which secured a 2020 Olympic quota spot for the United States of America, he said that he and Weis were already thinking about their 2020 Olympic campaign. "I thought it was kind of funny. Straight after the medal ceremony [in Lima], we went back to de-rigging the boat, like nothing really happened. It's another stepping stone, we're already looking ahead to [the 2020 Olympic Games]." (ussailing, 02 Aug 2019; Snow Monkey YouTube channel, 05 Jan 2020)

KITE FOILING
He attributes his comfort and enjoyment of sailing at high speeds to his kite foiling background. "I'm pretty comfortable at high speeds, coming from a kite foiling background." (Sail GP YouTube channel, 06 Jun 2019)
