She began sailing at age six while growing up in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. (perfectvisionsailing.com, 30 Mar 2021; quantumsails.com, 30 June 2016)

"My brother was sailing before me, so I started so I could try to beat him and the rest of the boys. At first it was hard because my girlfriends eventually started to quit. At a point when I had to decide what to do, the parents hired coach Agustin Resano from Argentina. He started a programme with us, and from the moment I learned how to compete, I spent long hours on the water. It was hard work, but I loved learning about the boat, how to make it go faster, how the wind works in St. Thomas. I just loved learning more about the sport." She and her crewmate Lara Dallman-Weiss trained in Miami, FL, United States of America, and Lanzarote, Spain, ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. (miami.cbslocal.com, 11 Jan 2021)

"When I'm on the water I think back to my coast guard training: the quick thinking, attention to detail, ability to make mistakes and learn quickly from them, and the work ethic to do whatever it takes to get the job done. At the end of the day, most important is the relationships in the boat." (uscgasports.com, 22 Jul 2019)

In 2017 she received the Robert H. Hobbs Sportsmanship Award for outstanding performance from the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association [ICSA] in the United States of America. (teamusa.org, 01 Mar 2021)

In 2016 and 2017 she was named Quantum Woman Collegiate Sailor of the Year by the ICSA. (quantumsails.com, 30 June 2016)

General Interest

General
CREWMATE
She sails in the 470 class with Lara Dallman-Weiss. The pair were introduced to each other by a mutual friend in April 2018 and began competing together a few months later. (miami.cbslocal.com, 11 Jan 2021; sail-world.com, 27 Feb 2019)

US COAST GUARD
In 2017 she graduated from the US Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut and took a job in the response and incident management division in Miami, Florida. She was granted a two-year support billet from the maritime service to attempt to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. "Growing up, I knew I wanted to sail in the Olympics and to make being on the water safer as a coast guard officer. I thought I would have to separate my dreams, but fortunately the coast guard has given me the opportunity to do both. The coast guard is my biggest fan when I'm away sailing and my command and shipmates help me to keep my career on track when I am back in Miami. I'm so proud to be part of a service that goes above and beyond to support its members to maximise their potential. I'm grateful for the opportunity to sail and to represent the United States Coast Guard."
