His father Ronald Florijn competed in rowing at the Olympic Games in 1988, 1992 and 1996, winning gold in the men's double sculls at the 1988 Games in Seoul and in the men's eight at the 1996 Games in Atlanta. His older sister Karolien Florijn has also rowed representing the Netherlands and won silver in the women's four at the 2019 World Championships in Linz-Ottensheim, Austria.
