WEIGHT CHANGE
He formerly competed in lightweight categories in both scull and sweep boats, but after the lightweight men's four event was dropped from the 2020 Olympic Games programme, he started focusing on the men's four. In 2017 he began a 7,000-calorie-a-day nutrition regime, eating up to six meals a day, and increased his weight by 20 kilogrammes over the next 12 months. During the process he contracted glandular fever and was restricted to weightlifting only, which helped him gain further muscle.
